Smart City project’s goal is to save people's lives – Kyrgyz Prime Minister

Bishkek, Jan. 11, 2018 / Kabar /. “The Smart City project will be realized not to earn on the side but to save human lives", Prime Minister Isakov said this during signing ceremony of the Investment Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and Huawei Technologies CO., Ltd on the implementation of the Smart City project.

"As you know, mortality on the roads is high. I, as Prime Minister, dream that this project will be implemented as soon as possible. During the talks, we agreed that the project will be implemented within 1.5 years," he said.

Isakov said that Bishkek and Osh cities will be included in the first stage of project implementation. In addition Bishkek-Osh, Bishkek-Cholpon-Ata and Bishkek-Manas highways will be encompassed as well.

"The first phase will be the most important, because our population is mostly concentrated in these cities. Negotiations lasted a long time. All the details were carefully worked through. The project is standard. By Kyrgyz Government’s side, the project will be implemented by the State Registration Service (SRS), and by the partners’ side it will be consortium," he added.

Within the framework of the investment agreement, work will be carried out to prepare design estimates, supply equipment, construction, integration, and maintenance of the Smart City project in Bishkek, Osh and on Bishkek-Osh, Bishkek-Cholpon-Ata , Bishkek-Manas highways. Amount and timing are included in the Terms of Reference, which is an integral part of the Agreement.

The volume of investments is 60 million dollars.

Investors will also be responsible for training specialists. Huawei must ensure the protection of personal data, as well as the requirements for cybersecurity in accordance with the legislation of Kyrgyzstan.

The project will last for 1.5 years.
