Sooronbay Jeenbekov meets with Nobel Prize winner Aziz Sancar

President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Turkish scientist-biochemist, professor of biochemistry and biophysics of the the University of North Carolina, USA School of Medicine, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry Aziz Sancar, the Kyrgyz President's press service reported.

The President warmly greeted Professor Aziz Sancar and noted that he was very pleased with the visit of an international scientist to Kyrgyzstan to meet with teachers and students of Kyrgyz National University and Manas Kyrgyz-Turkish University.

"Your visit and a meeting with students will give our young people inspiration and a desire for new achievements in science. The fact that you position yourself as a representative of all Turkic-speaking peoples, makes a great contribution to the development of relations between the Turkic-speaking countries. Thanks to your tireless work, you have become famous throughout the world for scientists who received the Nobel Prize. We consider you the most worthy representative not only of the Turkic world, but of all mankind, we are proud of you," the President said.

Aziz Sancar thanked Sooronbay Jeenbekov for the warm welcome and noted that Kyrgyzstan is perceived by all representatives of the Turkic peoples as the second Motherland.

During the conversation, he noted that for development, the state should focus not only on the development of natural resources, but also on human resources.

"A country, that supports the aspirations of its citizens to knowledge and science, educates their inner spirit and freedom, has a great future. I am glad that Kyrgyzstan pays close attention to human development and the preservation of peace. It is very important for a person to develop in a free and educated country," said Professor Aziz Sancar.

At the end of the meeting, Jeenbekov wished the professor fruitful cooperation with scientists of Kyrgyzstan and expressed his hope that he would support Kyrgyzstan in the development of science and knowledge.
